Hoped to go windsurf foiling for the first time this month but had to wait
to the rain to pass and the wind to build, so I headed down to Felixstowe
dock view point with our bright umbrella to take some weather pics to send
to the TV but I am ot holding my breath! It was miserable for most of the
morning, chilly too so I had plenty of time to do my exercises. The wind
started to build around 11.30 so I headed down to Squiz Lane at 12.30 and
with a sw gusting well over 20 knots I was tempted to set up my rarely used
fin gear which probably was not my best idea as low water was gone 4 so it
was wind with tide meaning you usually have to beat both ways just to staty
in the same place! Still I headed out into a particularly lumpy sea with
just enough wind to plan and went too broad o my first run, ending up
several groynes downwind by the ferris wheel:( I then had a few runs out
slowly making my way back, I forgot how exhausting fin sailing can be and
will probably stick to foiling I the future especially as the sea was
particularly lumpy, weedy too! The wind then turned a fraction off and
picked up so I got back to my launch beach easily, just I time as the wind
went even more off and dropped but at last I got a little sun as I packed
up, not great, fingers crossed tomorrow will be better, fingers crossed!
